Getting Ready to Go

I've never done any kind of blog before, but I have been asked by several people to do one for the next year soooo I am going to do my very best to keep up with this so you all know whats going on with my life over in Espana. So to be a little more specific.. I am moving to Barbate, Spain to teach English at an Elementary school for the upcoming school year. I am employed by the Ministry of Education in Spain and I am one of the several "Auxiliares de Conversacion" they hire each year. I could not be more excited to work with these kids, learn Spanish, fully experience the Spanish way of life, travel a lot and see what what else this year will bring! There is something great about traveling and experiencing other cultures to the point that you are being put in a situation that is new and foreign and feel completely lost. I love knowing that once you find your way, and get through it you will be a stronger and more knowledgeable person. Its hard for a lot of people to understand that I find comfort in the uncomfortable, but there is something about it that is so invigorating for me. So while I have the opportunity... I plan to experience as much as possible. I finally booked a hostel today for the first couple of nights that I arrive into Spain. I am going a little over 3 weeks early, giving myself enough time to get familiar with the area I will be living in, as well as hopefully securing a place to live (yup I haven't the slightest idea where I will be living yet) and then backpacking for a little bit before school starts. If all goes well :)
I leave on this crazy adventure in exactly 2 weeks from today and now that it feels completely real I am just trying to keep myself together enough to get everything situated for when I leave. Of course since the ridiculously long application process was months ago, and then waiting to forever to hear if I got accepted into the program, then waiting again to hear which region, then waiting again to hear which school, THEN a whole new loonnng visa application process of waiting again to get everything back ughhh I'm just so glad to have all that finished with.... Through all the paperwork and waiting it seemed as though the time would never come that I would actually be boarding a plane to fly to Spain, BUT its just about here! I feel like I have an endless list of things to get accomplished before I leave, and I wonder how in the world I am going to get everything done, and say goodbye to all the people I need to.... but I suppose if there is a will there is a way. So here we go! !! VIVA ESPANA!!
I wanted to get a little introduction post out, but as of right now its just the preparations so nothing too exciting YET... Till the arrival ;)
